How to Create Your Own Keyboard Shortcuts

Let’s see how we can make our own shortcut keys. To edit our keyboard shortcuts were going to come up here to edit and down to keyboard shortcuts. At the top. here it says shortcuts for application menu. That is the top menu in Photoshop. We’re going to find layer and twirl that down. I’m going to scroll all the way down to smart objects and right here there’s convert to smart object.

Now if we were to put a letter say S Photoshop is going to tell us that is an invalid shortcut. Menu commands must include and then you have shortcut keys like CMD or OPT. Any of these other keys in conjunction with the letter.

If I enter CMD+S it’s going to tell me CMD+S is already in use and will be removed from file saved if accepted. So if I want I can come up here and click accept and it will override that. It will use CMD+S for convert to smart object. But I don’t want to do that because that’s basically to save a file that’s already used.

So instead I’m going to use CTRL+OPT+CMD+S So I’m going to hit accept. Then press OK, I’m going to come over here to this layer and my shortcut was CTRL+OPT+CMD+S There is my smart object. Create Custom Keyboard Shortcuts in Photoshop.
