Lightroom Firefly Integration

Adobe has officially launched the Lightroom Firefly integration, allowing you to edit photos with AI and even generate video from a photo directly inside Lightroom Classic and Desktop.

How to Edit a Photo in Firefly from Lightroom Classic

  1. Open Lightroom Classic.
  2. Go to the Library module or Develop module.
  3. Select a single image (RAW or JPEG).
  4. Right-click the photo.
  5. Choose Generate → Using Firefly → Edit Photo.

Lightroom will open the Firefly webpage automatically. From there, you can choose your AI model (Adobe model or Partner model such as Gemini 2.5), select your aspect ratio (for example 3:2), and enter a detailed text prompt describing the transformation you want.

Example Prompt: Restore this photo. Remove cracks and creases. Restore color.

Click Generate. The process may take some time and will use credits. Once complete, you’ll see a before and after comparison of your transformed image.

How to Edit in Firefly from Lightroom Desktop

  • Select your image (RAW or JPEG).
  • Click the Share icon in the top-right.
  • Choose Edit Image under Firefly.

This opens Firefly with the same editing capabilities, allowing you to transform and enhance your photo using AI.

How to Turn a Photo into a Video in Lightroom

Firefly now allows you to animate your photos directly from Lightroom.

  • In Library or Develop module, select your photo.
  • Right-click the image.
  • Choose Generate using Firefly → Generate Video from Photo.
  • Alternatively, go to File → Generate using Firefly → Generate Video from Photo.

  • Model: Choose your video generation model (e.g., Veo 3.1 Fast).
  • Resolution: 720p or 1080p.
  • Aspect Ratio: Example 16:9.
  • Frames Per Second: 24fps (default for smooth motion).
  • Duration: 4, 6, or 8 seconds.
  • Audio: Enable or disable audio track.

Click Generate. Video generation uses significantly more credits than image edits. Once complete, you’ll have a short animated version of your photo.

Firefly will generate an animated sequence based on your instructions, bringing your still image to life with motion.
