How to add an easy smoke effect in Photoshop.
First, create a blank layer
above your image
Hit B for your brush tool.
Use a soft round brush
with 0% hardness
100% flow
100% opacity.
draw the smoke or you want it to come up from the flame.
Make your smoke layer
a smart object,
come up to filter
blur gallery
path Blur
position the starting point of the path blur
onto the smoke line
move the endpoint of the path to the top of the smoke line.
Now drag the path, blur
onto the smoke line
at a couple of different points.
Increase the speed
to about 200
increase the endpoint speed
to roughly
700.
Then click on and move one or more of the path blur points
Until you like how the smoke spreads out,
then press okay.
now on your smoke layer
and adjust the opacity
down just a little bit,
maybe 85 or so.
